Sunshine Coast Arts Industry Precinct Inc. (SCAIP) is a not-for-profit regional arts based community organisation THAT IS located within and manages the Old Ambulance Station Arts Centre in Nambour on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. At the core to SCAIP's organisational existence is partnering with the creative community to continually inform the creative direction of the organisation. SCAIP is committed to a sustainable model of practice. Building the sustainability of the organisation's operations on income generated throughout the facility, therefore reducing the organisations reliance on the need for external funding. SCAIP supports emerging creative's to help them achieve their maximum potential by providing peer based support through arts incubation, hosting entrepreneurial training initiatives and fostering creative business development opportunities within a managed multi- disciplinary art space that embraces all art practice. One of SCAIP's main aims is to be inclusive of all forms of creativity and aims to build the capacity of the community, artists and organisations to address identified needs in a creative way. The Old Ambulance Station Arts Centre comprises of several permanent and casual creative spaces
Recently redeveloped this exhibition space, includes three gallery/artist workshop spaces with approximately 70 lineal meters of hanging space and provides a space for emerging artists and creatives to exhibit and showcase their work in a professional environment with curatorial support. SCAIP is currently working in partnership with artists developing the galleries' 2012 exhibition program.
A multi-use sound proofed, air conditioned community performance facility. The venue has a capacity of 150 people as well as a base in-house PA system and theatre lighting.
A multimedia projection space designed to showcase emerging filmmakers work as we as provide a space for social gathering focusing around film appreciation. The space also the home for several creative businesses and practicing artists, with these anchor tenants providing a diversity of activities including independent and alternative retail, artist run initiatives, and studio space. To keep the space vibrant and exciting SCAIP currently partners Sunshine Coast Council's SmartArts+ Program. This partnership has resulted in several creative business initiatives including; Edgeware Build
Your Business program. As one of the official delivery spaces for
Edgeware Sunshine Coast, the Old Ambulance Station Arts Centre does not
only the host the Build Your Business program, but also hosts monthly
professional development social sessions for budding entrepreneurs. |
